James Verlanic, MD earned his medical degree at the University Of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, Nev., and his Bachelors of Science in Cell Biology & Neuroscience and Ecology & Evolution at Montana State University in Bozeman. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Verlanic is a member of the American Board of Surgery.

Lauren Shea, MD earned her Doctorate of Medicine at the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Ga. and her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. She completed both her Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta and is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition to general Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Dr. Shea has special interests in Women’s GI health and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and she joins St. Peter’s with five years of private practice experience.

A Helena native, Matthew E. Goldes, MD earned his medical degree from University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Wash., after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Montana in Missoula. He completed his residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla. He is board certified with the American Board of Surgery, and is a member of the American Medical Association and American College of Surgeons.

Melissa Wonorski, A-GNP, earned her master of science in nursing degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She also received her bachelor of science degree in allied healthcare management from Franklin University and her associate of science degree in respiratory therapy from Columbus State Community College

Dr. Blitzer has experience across a broad range of general surgery procedures and patient needs. During her minimally invasive surgery research fellowship, she studied clinical outcomes and quality improvement in areas including minimally invasive hernia repair, esophageal surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery protocols.

Robert McVie, FNP earned his Master of Science in Nursing and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in Birmingham, Ala. He is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
